Description
A Tree Print of the original tree painting SAFE HAVEN with hares in acrylics, metallics and sparkles on canvas.
I have always been drawn to trees since I was a tiny child. Their majestic height, energy and presence has always towered over my life. We bought our current house because it is surrounded by trees with their serenity and protectiveness. We have a couple of old yew trees that are not found in many places locally except in old churchyards and It has been an honour to be their custodian over the time we have lied here. And of course it’s not just the trees but the wealth of nature that comes with them living in, on and around them. I love the wind and the way it sways them in a breeze and the changes through each of the seasons as the leaves come and go and their colours change. The flowers and the berries and their soft structure in an urbanised world. The benefits of shade, beauty and environmental benefits including reducing carbon dioxide pollution in the air we breathe. But most of all for their uniqueness and beauty as a presence in our lives.
I have now painted many trees in their different forms and landscapes and I know that it will continue. I gain so much from the energy and beauty as they are created on canvas. Each tree is an individual, some are real trees created from life and others are from my imagination but all are beautiful and full of sparkles- metallic leaf and sequins and glitter. Trees sparkle.
“What we are doing to the forests of the world is but a mirror reflection of what we are doing to ourselves and to one another.”
― Chris Maser
The Strongest oak tree of the forest is not the one that is protected from the storm and hidden from the sun. It is the one that stands in the open where it is compelled to struggle for its existence against the winds and rains and the scorching sun”
-Napoleon Hill
The theme of my work always is about love, love for the natural world in all its beauty. If we all appreciated and loved nature for nature then we are a step towards reversing the emptiness we see in nature and in the mirror in ourselves. As we need nature to thrive, and its loss and our loss of connection to it is killing us and nature, with all its beauty benefits and survival systems. Nature is beautiful, amazing and glorious. we need it and nature needs us
