A WINTER FLOWER GARDEN An original painting Inspired by the winter flowers seen at Barnsdale Gardens Rutland  and in my own winter flower garden.The robins are both from my garden and from Barnsdale where we always have a visit whilst sipping coffee and scoffing scones and cream-good taste I say.

One of our most popular iconic birds the robin brings a smile whenever we see one.Robins are the UK’s favourite bird  especially at Christmas! Males and females look identical, and young birds have no red breast and are spotted with golden brown. Robins sing nearly all year round and despite their cute appearance, they are aggressively territorial and are quick to drive away intruders. They will also sing at night next to street lights in cities and towns.

Barnsdale Gardens can be found in Rutland England and are the gardens used in the TV series Gardeners world with Geoff Hamilton. The gardens can be visited all year round.  Geoff Hamilton was a firm believer and pioneer in organic gardening and Barnsdale was his ‘great experiment’ in peat free and chemical free growing. These techniques have been continued and the gardens at Barnsdale remain an outstanding example of these organic principles. I visit the gardens most weeks of the year and there is always something to see whenever you visit. It has inspired many of my recent paintings with its array of colour and textures throughout its different gardens. Its my safe place-A place I love.

This painting is 50 x 120 x 2cm on canvas and is in acrylics, metallics and fine glitters and sparkles. . This painting will be removed from the wooden frame to be sent by courier and will need to be re-stretched after delivery onto a frame. It will be delivered in a tube for safety.
