My inspiration for this painting (written as I travelled around Iceland in August 2018)
Iceland is a land of adventure, mystery, geology along with a sense of adventure and experiences to connect you to the nature and the outstanding landscapes that appear continuously as you travel. Wherever I travel I am drawn to the flowers of the region, both those I recognise and those that are new to me. In the work that is created the flowers give you a feel of the sense of place and the colours of the season of the year. I hope that you will feel a sense of exploration and a sense of anticipation in my work inspired by the places that I experience. I hope that you can experience them too and be inspired to travel to the places that draw you to them.
Iceland
Rays of delicate light shimmer and dance on the horizon
As glints of magic flicker from the land
Grey desolate rocks as far as the eye can see
Covered with a blanket of green mossy fronds
Water shoots abruptly to the sky with
Gurgling and bubbling in turquoise pools beneath
The colours accentuated under a bright blue sky
Holding the dramatic landscape in its unpredictable charms
Cascades of water thunder down across rock
Steam whitens the sky
Crystal clear water from glaciers afar
Tumbles from dizzying heights to a calm sea
The delicate flowers and dainty grasses
Dance across Meadows touched by the wind
The blonde Icelandic ponies wander free
Through meadows of cotton grass featherlight and white
Fluffy low clouds shroud the heavy mountain tops whilst
Gigantic roaring waterfalls fall to the shaken earth
Snowtopped mountains with icy glaciers beneath
Fjords Flow to sea under the pyramidal mountains
Peaks coated with endless white clouds
The lake in the rain drenched stormy clouds
Travelling on hairpin bends down to the sea
Small multi coloured houses sit by the sea
The huge ferry dominates the harbour
Bringing and taking the holiday people away
Hot pots of thick mud bubble and hiss
The egg like sulphur hits you hard with the smell
Volcanic craters high and blue with gem like crusted rims
Clouds of hot steam rise violently from the earth
Puffins fling themselves from cliffs reaching to heaven
Their wings wildly flapping to save them from disaster
Still waters of the lakes reflect the beauty of the skies as
Tufts of delicate purple heather adorn the gentle green meadows
Rivers wind their way through landscapes green and grey
The icy blue waters of godafoss thunder down the gorge
Leaving the Viking pagan gods in the past
Azure Wide fjords with fingers of land
Wild Rearing Icelandic ponies full of charm
Plateaus of mountains with green valleys between
Dormant volcanic craters stand over endless black volcanic sand
With seals hauled out all snoozing and calm
Beautiful Peace descends on this land
Vast seas as far as the eye can see
Playing seals bob and dive
Eider ducks with feathers cosying their chicks
The gravel tracks of death with potholes and mud
Sheep grazing and lazying about
And everywhere gigantic mountain tops tower above
Undulating Meadows with majestic Viking ponies
Beneath sugar dusted summits and soaring gulls
Water gushes and crashes through rock filled gorges
the gentle steamy waters of the blue lagoon
Cocooned by The craggy dark grey of the lava field
Leaving a corner of my heart in this jewel of an island so far far away.

Most of my work is inspired by nature and the outdoor world both of which are connected by the stories and messages that each can convey through art.
Art is a constant journey of discovery, leading to new places and new ideas. There will never be enough time to create all that I want and need to show and share with the world.

This is a unique, statement piece of art. The size is 102 x 76 x 4cm and is painted on the edges of the canvas so there is no need for you to add a frame.
Please remember that Photographs do not show the gorgeous shimmer of the metallic paints and glitters. These will be a additional pleasure when you unpack your painting after purchase!
Delivery and Insurance is included. The painting is shipped 5-7 days after the payment is received. Delivery to certain countries around the world can take between 2-5 weeks. The customers are responsible for the payment of all the taxes and duties, that certain countries and customs can apply.
