What is Intuitive Soul Art? by Intuitive Artist Charron Pugsley-Hill

I often get asked about how I create my art? And when I say by intuition and soul and not by planning I frequently get a puzzled face standing before me! My art  is created in an intuitive and soul based process that means that I trust myself in front of a canvas to feel the emotions and energies within me or in the place I am and translate these onto canvas.

But firstly what is intuition?

It is something we ALL have but modern western society pushes us away from trusting that gut instinct into a more head based approach to our lives.  We are often so busy that we do not have the space to listen to our intuition which is about our inner guidance that is not dominated by our thought processes. We know when something feels right or when something feels wrong for us as individuals.  Its about trusting that guidance in taking action. Its difficult to explain intuition as it differs from person to person. You don’t need to explain it to others and Intuition can guide us and keep us safe by trusting those gut reactions to someone or something if we listen to it. And thats the key…are you listening to your intuition?

“Our intuition is like a muscle, we must practice listening to it and trusting its wisdom. When you take the time to ask and keep listening for the answer, being at peace becomes easy.” Lisa Prosen

“I believe in intuitions and inspirations…I sometimes FEEL that I am right. I do not KNOW that I am.”
Albert Einstein

Intuitive Art is about really trusting that inner guidance when creating, listening and feeling what is happening inside your emotions and whats happening around you. Its about connecting to the deep inner authentic you and bringing that out in your art. Like most things you can get better at being intuitive as you trust yourself more and work through the issues that arise as you work. Its about finding an inner  peace with yourself that what you are creating is authentic to you and your work. You don’t need to understand what is happening as you create as that come come later or not at all. Intuitive art is in the moment when you are in the flow when you are creating. Its about allowing your heart and soul to rule over your head as you find the space to let go of all the noise in your head whilst you connect to your inner self that  allows the imagination to run freely and create often unexpected art.

“Our bodies have five senses: touch, smell, taste, sight, hearing. But not to be overlooked are the senses of our souls: intuition, peace, foresight, trust, empathy. The differences between people lie in their use of these senses; most people don’t know anything about the inner senses while a few people rely on them just as they rely on their physical senses, and in fact probably even more.”
C. JoyBell C.

In an article in the NW York Times in 2012, Ivy Estabrooke who is the program manager at the Office of Naval Research explained that there are 10 things that people in touch with their intuition do differently.

1/ They listen to that inner voice.
2/ They take time for solitude.
3/ They create.
4/ They practice mindfulness.
5/ They observe everything.
6/ They listen to their bodies.
7/ They connect deeply with others.
8/ They pay attention to their dreams.
9/ They enjoy plenty of down time.
10/ They mindfully let go of negative emotions

I would add to this by saying that TRUST is key to being intuitive in all the above, trusting that we know ourselves and that we can trust ourselves in the actions we take. This all adds to being the authentic you….something else that I often talk about….but thats another subject.

“At times you have to leave the city of your comfort and go into the wilderness of your intuition. What you’ll discover will be wonderful. What you’ll discover is yourself.”
Alan Alda

My workshops and VIP days allow the participant to begin tapping into the intuitive process for themselves. I want people to trust themselves more and create art that is a part of them not me. No group photo of everyone with the same painting at the end. I want people to explore themselves and the world around them as an adventure of excitement and wonder. Being intuitive is full of surprises, connection and excitement as you never know what is going to unravel on the canvas in front of you. I continue to learn about myself, others and the world around us as I continue the path of intuitive art making. It would be lovely if you joined me.

If something doesn’t feel right it probably isn’t. Listen to your intuition
