An original flower painting of the flowers of Hemingford Grey Meadow Manor Garden created after a number of visits in 2022 and 2023 to this stunning hidden gem of a garden in Cambridgeshire. Every corner, nook and cranny brings further delight in a peaceful, healing and calming manner all overseen by a delightful medieval Manor House.

The house was built around 1130 by Payn Osmundsen a tenant of Aubrey de Vere. Following owners include Edmund Dudley a favourite of Henry VII and Richard Cromwell, The grandfather of Oliver Cromwell. I first visited as I heard that the garden had a great collection of bearded iris which I had recently fallen in Leo with. The range of colours and their blowsiness suddenly came into my consciousness and I needed to see more of these beautiful flowers. They did  not disappoint. But I was surprised and delighted to see the range of flowers and colours throughout the garden including a section of orchid strewn wildflower meadow that always delights my soul.

I have created many paintings over the years inspired by visits to famous gardens including Monet’s Garden, Barnsdale Garden, The Eden project, Chelsea Flower Show, Kukenhof Gardens and many others far and wide and more local. There is something in my heart that makes me want to nature flowers where they are found but also the spirit and feel of each place which is always unique to each one.
