Description
An original flower painting of the Spring Flowers of Wells Cathedral Palace gardens including 3 of the serene swans gracing the waters of the moat that surrounds the garden.
The spring flowers in the grounds of Wells Palace gardens were beautiful this spring, banks of primroses cascading from the walls, reflections in the deep pools of water and the swans swimming gracefully around the waters of the ancient moat. Spring blossom and flowers to delight the senses were everywhere as I wandered taking in the spirit of the ancient palace and garden in 2024. Reflection is the spirit of the place not only in the waters of the pools and moats but in the emotions evoked by such a beautiful place
Taken from the palace website…..”Hidden within the ancient ramparts and protected by the moat, 14 acres of stunning, tranquil UK gardens to visit await you in the heart of the City of Wells, Somerset.
Wander along and around the many herbaceous borders, savour the scent of roses in the parterre, admire the beautiful views of the gardens, moat and further afield from the top of the ramparts, meander through the Arboretum, admire the reflection of Wells Cathedral in one of the well pools, explore what is growing in the Community Garden and, finally, take a moment to recharge your batteries in the contemporary Garden of Reflection.
There is evidence that these gardens existed here even before Bishop Jocelyn began work on building the Palace c.1220. Over the years the gardens have changed as successive bishops have added their legacy and today these gardens in Somerset have Grade II listed garden status due to their special historic nature.
In 2016, these fine UK gardens in Somerset were acknowledged by the Royal Horticultural Society, by being made a “Partner Garden”. This status is awarded to gardens of “outstanding and exceptionally high standards of planting and design” – a great achievement for the team working under head gardener James Cross.”
Interestingly I did not know that the palace refer to part of the gardens as their contemporary garden as the garden of reflection when I named this painting.
I have created many paintings over the years inspired by visits to famous gardens including Monet’s Garden, Barnsdale Garden, The Eden project, Chelsea Flower Show, Kukenhof Gardens and many others far and wide and more local. There is something in my heart that makes me want to capture the beauty of flowers where they are found but also the spirit and feel of each place which is always unique to each one and brings that uniqueness to each painting in its feel, emotionsand colours.
Perfect for hanging as a dramatic piece for your walls, this painting will brighten up any dull day with its beautiful colours and use of glitter and metallic paints. The picture doesn’t do it justice, the flowers and grasses are made up of layers which glisten and shine as you view the painting from different viewpoints. There are 25 layers in the grasses alone in this painting which is very sparkly which cannot be seen well in photographs.
.No frame is needed for this vibrant wall art, as the edges are painted too so you don’t have to add a frame. Standing at 101 x 76 x 4cm in acrylic paints on a quality canvas. Fixings are included.
Please remember that Photographs do not show the gorgeous shimmer of the metallic paints and sparkly glitters. These will be a additional pleasure when you unpack your painting after purchase!
Delivery and Insurance is included to the UK. The painting is shipped as soon as I can after the payment is received. Delivery to certain countries around the world can take between 2-5 weeks.
